For more than 20 years, PayPal has remained at the forefront of the digital payment revolution, leveraging technology to help make financial services and commerce more convenient, affordable, and secure. Following tremendous company growth and broader cultural change, there was an opportunity to expand and energize the brand, building upon the strength of their iconic assets.
We partnered with PayPal to elevate and unify their global identity spanning visual, verbal, and sonic components. Underpinning the work is a renewed set of principles and a rallying brand purpose to champion possibilities for everybody — representing PayPal’s ongoing mission and vision to unlock opportunity for customers’ everyday lives by making access to money easy, fast, and more enjoyable.
Visual identity

The visual identity is a natural evolution of the iconic PayPal look and feel, encompassing a new set of brand principles built on trust, delight, equality, and community. A new graphic language, paired with motion assets bring the evolved logo and brand to life — constantly opening up to show the possibilities with PayPal. For both warmth and brand recognition, Gold was added to the primary color palette to complement the refreshed blues.

Key to the new brand identity is a new signature typeface, PayPal Open. Featuring Arabic and Cyrillic versions as well as an extended currency set, the typeface is one that can be used and recognized anywhere around the world.
Sonic identity

A new sonic identity allows PayPal to connect with audiences across more touchpoints, heightening the feeling of possibility and positivity throughout the entire brand experience.
